Food Science and Technology

Food Science and Technology is a relevant, exciting and highly multidisciplinary major encompassing the fields of Food Chemistry and Biochemistry, Food Safety and Microbiology, Brewing, Food Processing and Preservation, Sensory and Consumer Science, and Food Sustainability. After completing the preparatory course work, students focus on advanced subject courses that emphasize improving the safety, stability, taste, nutrition, convenience, sustainability and value of foods. Our program provides students with the opportunity to enroll in hands-on coursework (e.g. product development classes) and laboratory internships with world-renowned research faculty.

Viticulture and Enology

The Viticulture and Enology major is unique in combining the sciences of viticulture and enology in a single research and teaching unit that encompasses all of the scientific disciplines that impact grape growing and winemaking. Our program provides students with the opportunity to enroll in hands-on coursework and laboratory internships with world-renowned research faculty. The faculty roster includes scientists from the fields of chemistry, genetics, microbiology, chemical engineering, horticulture, biochemistry, plant physiology, and sensory science.
